Why Ben Simmons Should Play For…

Trust the process! That’s all Sixers fans have heard these past couple years and after losing to the Atlanta Hawks in the playoffs, Philly fans seem to be ready to let go of all-star G/F, Ben Simmons. Simmons scored a combined 19 points in game 5,6,7 of the semi-eastern conference finals against the Hawks and has a history of thriving in the regular season but struggling in the playoffs. So what should they do? If I was the 76ers GM, Daryl Morey, I would let go of Simmons and go ALLLL in Damian Lillard this offseason. A high scoring guard paired with arguably the best big man in the league with Joel Embiid, is a deadly duo.
As for Simmons, it is hard to find the perfect fit for him. His playing style is unique as he is built like a forward making an effort of playing the PG position. That is why I think Atlanta actually could be a solid fit for the all-star. A team that has an up-and-coming superstar in Trae Young and talented big man John Collins at center. Despite making the eastern conference finals, its fair to say the Hawks biggest gap is at the forward position(SF/PF) assuming Collins is at center. This destination will allow Simmons to stay in the east, compete for a title, without dramatically changing his playing style. I can see it now, Simmons drives the attention in paint and kicks it out to sharpshooters Kevin Huerter or Young. I truly believe Simmons most underrated talent is his ability to pass and his superb court vision. If you surround him shooters and not limit him to play as a true PF or as a true guard trying to improve his jumpshot, I think he will get plenty of opportunities to impress. So do you see Simmons fitting in Atlanta?
